Donations help staff get vital training to respond to the coronavirus pandemic

The coronavirus outbreak has had a huge impact on the way NHS staff are able to care for patients.

Thanks to our generous supporters, staff at the hospitals have been able to access training that helps them adapt to new clinical challenges.

New equipment

To avoid the risk of infection and transmission of the virus, new processes for routine procedures have been introduced. Donations have enabled staff to adapt to these new processes, by helping to purchase a state-of-the-art patient simulator and several training manikins for the Trust’s Simulation and Interactive Learning Centre.

Training more staff

Your support has also meant the training could be adapted to be delivered virtually. New recording equipment has allowed the Centre to create e-learning resources and live-stream teaching sessions, enabling more staff to access the training online.

Gareth Power, Senior Simulation Engineer says:

‘Without the generosity of donors, we would not have been able to support the huge number of clinical staff who are doing a fantastic job in one of the most testing environments they have ever experienced.’

A big thank you to everyone who has donated to our coronavirus appeal and supported this vital training.
