'Giving something back' – Anene McPeake’s story

11.09.17 Categories: Patient stories,

Anene will be running her first half marathon at Royal Parks on 8 October.

Anene’s daughter who is now 8, was born via emergency caesarean and prior to that it wasn’t certain whether she'd survive without the expertise of Evelina London. Anene said that because of the determined attitude of the staff at Evelina London she has her daughter here today.

Anene’s son was also born via an emergency caesarean. Anene says: ‘My son spent some time in Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) as he had internal problems in his stomach. This entailed lots of tests and observations, including many visits to Evelina London, again the experience, expertise and belief of staff was amazing.’

Anene says: ‘I am running for the Guy's and St Thomas' Charity whose amazing support through the birth of my children has never and will never be forgotten.’

Both of her children are strong, healthy, happy and thriving!
